How do you practice regular self-care? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In the media, self-care is often depicted as bubble baths, getting your nails done, massages, etc. While those are all great ways to relax (sign me up for the massage please 🙋🏼‍♀️) self-care encompasses a lot more than that. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In order to fully nourish ourselves in mind, body, and spirit, we need to dig a bit deeper. Self-care is about doing the things that help you feel calmer, more focused, and in control of your life. I like to think of self-care in terms of pillars - each with a different way to care for the various layers of our lives. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Here is a list of the 7 main pillars of self-care: ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1️⃣ Environmental: This can include anything in your immediate environment such as organizing your work area, tidying up the house, lighting candles, or opening windows to let the fresh air in. This could also look like experiencing new environments such as going on vacation or visiting somewhere you’ve never been before⁣
⁣⁣
2️⃣ Spiritual: This can be anything from spending time in nature to finding your purpose and connection to the universe⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3️⃣ Mental & Intellectual: My personal favorite - this could look like anything that nourishes and grows your mind including practicing mindfulness, meditating, journaling, reading a good book, and even going back to school⁣⁣
⁣⁣
4️⃣ Physical: This includes anything that nourishes your physical body including exercise, sleep, eating balanced meals, drinking more water, consuming less alcohol, etc.⁣
⁣⁣
5️⃣ Recreational: This might look like playing a team sport, making arts and crafts, coloring, or learning a new skill!⁣
⁣⁣
6️⃣ Emotional: Our emotional health is often one of the more neglected categories of self-care. This could look like going to a therapist, being open with a friend about your feelings, or embracing your need to cry rather than suppressing it⁣
⁣⁣
7️⃣ Social: It’s SO important to connect with others - especially after this past year. Go out with your girlfriends, grab lunch with someone you haven’t seen in a while, or join a coaching group program where you’re able to connect with other like-minded women!⁣
⁣⁣
Which one are you focusing on today?

⁣
Stress is the body's natural reaction to harmful situations. Stress can actually be a really good thing, especially in times where we need to protect ourselves from harm (think slamming on the breaks so you don’t hit something).⁣
⁣
However, long-term or chronic stress is where problems start to arise. Stress can affect us all in different ways - some experience emotional or cognitive symptoms such as mood swings, agitation, constant worrying, foggy brain, etc. while other people experience more physical symptoms such as low energy, getting sick easily, chest tightness, rapid heart rate, etc. ⁣
⁣
Long-term stress can lead to digestion problems, deteriorating mental health, and even heart issues. Stress is no joke, and trust me, I know what it’s like to be constantly stressed. ⁣
⁣
Thankfully, there are many tools that we can use to lower our stress levels and keep these symptoms at bay. ⁣
⁣
Here are my top 3 tools to help manage stress: ⁣
⁣
1️⃣ Mindful Movement - Getting your body moving is an incredibly powerful way to release “stuck” tension and come back to a relaxed state. This doesn’t mean you have to run a marathon - find something that you enjoy and take even 15 minutes out of your day to do it. Yoga, walking, running, gardening, swimming, dancing - whatever it is that you find enjoyable and will help get you out of your head⁣
⁣
2️⃣ Meditation - Meditation is another powerful modality to combat stress. Meditation helps train the mind to be less reactive and can actually transform your experience of stress in your life. I share many free guided meditations on my IGTV and YouTube channel if you’re interested in giving it a try!⁣
⁣
3️⃣ Breathwork - This is my personal favorite! Breathwork is an amazing tool that we can use to activate the parasympathetic nervous system - the opposite of our “fight or flight” mode. If you’re interested in learning more about breathwork techniques, I’m teaching a FREE breathwork class TOMORROW here on IG live at 11am CST where I’ll be sharing 3 easy breathwork techniques you can use to reduce stress! ⁣
⁣
What are your favorite ways to manage stress?
Every moment we have in this life is a gift ✨⁣ Every moment we have in this life is a gift ✨⁣
⁣
It took me a long time to realize how important it is to live fully in the present moment. We as humans spend so much time thinking about and preparing for the future - yet we often have a difficult time remembering to live in the present⁣
⁣
We’ve been sold this idea that the next moment will be more important than the one we’re in right now. That we’ll be happier once we have the car, once we lose the weight, once we have the money, etc. But this is how we let life pass us by. If we’re always grasping and reaching for the next big thing, then we’ll always be unhappy. ⁣
⁣
This doesn’t mean we can’t plan for the future of course, but rather to not spend our days consumed by this idea that the future version of ourselves is somehow more worthy or better or happier than the version of today. ⁣
⁣
Tomorrow is never promised to any of us. Time is a gift, not something any of us are entitled to. Every moment is something to celebrate! Enjoy the sunshine, spend time with people you love, take the risk, go for walks in nature, see the world, notice the flowers, savor the moment, experience things outside of your comfort zone, do more of the things that bring you joy. ⁣
⁣
Life is messy and challenging and downright difficult at times. But its also incredibly beautiful - a grand adventure that awaits us every single day ⁣
⁣
We will all end up on our deathbeds at some point. When it happens, my bet is that you won’t be wishing you worked harder & spent more time at the office, or that you spent more time on social media comparing your life to other people. ⁣
⁣
How are you choosing to live and enjoy the present today?
What does it mean to live an intentional & purpose What does it mean to live an intentional & purpose-driven life? ⁣
⁣
I used to live a VERY unintentional life. From the second I woke up to the second I fell asleep, I lived completely on autopilot - just going through the motions to get by. I was convinced that things just happened to me and I never felt responsible for my own circumstances⁣
⁣
A typical day usually went something like this: I would finally get out of bed after my 5th snooze alarm went off, chug some coffee and sprint out the door to go to my awful corporate job that I hated⁣
⁣
I would usually be too rushed to make lunch and would buy an overpriced, non-nutritious meal at a restaurant. I would spend my workday daydreaming about what I was going to do on the weekend. Then I would come home, throw something together for a meal and watch murder-porn documentaries on Netflix until 2am with a bottle of wine, just to do it all again the next day. ⁣
⁣
It makes sense to me now why I was so unhappy, yet I couldn’t figure it out at the time. It wasn’t until I found my yoga, meditation and mindfulness practice that everything changed for me. ⁣
⁣
Our little choices throughout our day create our reality. What time you decide to go to bed, your thoughts, what you watch, how you spend your mornings, what you consume - it all makes a difference ⁣
⁣
Get into the habit of asking yourself - does this support the life I’m trying to create? Practice showing up as the woman you want to be today! ⁣
⁣
If you’re ready to stop living on autopilot and create an intentional & fulfilling life that you can’t wait to wake up to every single day, I have 4 spots left in my 1:1 coaching program - The Everyday Mindfulness Program! ⁣
⁣
Together, we will go on a journey of self-discovery to help you be more mindful, find your purpose, level up your mindset, and create a life that sets your soul on fire!⁣

How to create a mindful movement practice👇🏼 How to create a mindful movement practice👇🏼 ⁣
⁣
There used to be a time in my life where “exercise” was a dirty word for me. True story, I used to HATE exercising. I immediately associated working out with having a “bikini body” and this lingering feeling of inadequacy because I didn’t look like the models I saw on my Instagram feed.⁣
⁣
Looking back, I’m so sad that this was my reality. Moving your body is SO much more than for fitting into a bikini or looking a certain way. ⁣
⁣
Movement is about loving yourself and celebrating all your body can do for you. It should never be used as a punishment for what you ate. It’s about embracing your strength, providing energy, and empowering you feel good in your body - both physically and mentally⁣
⁣⁣
If you’re looking to add movement into your routine to feel your best, here are 5 ways to create a mindful movement practice:⁣
⁣
1️⃣ Think about what type of movement feels best for you and do something that brings you joy. Don’t worry about whether you’re good at it or not - just what you genuinely like to do. Maybe its rock climbing, hiking, walking, yoga, running, boxing, etc. It should never feel like a chore⁣
⁣
2️⃣ Stay present. Try paying attention to what’s happening in your body right now. Does any part of your body feel different today than it did yesterday? ⁣
⁣
3️⃣ Notice the quality of your thinking during workouts: Can you appreciate how your body is working for you right now? Can you let go of comparing your practice to someone else’s and celebrate yourself for showing up today? ⁣
⁣
4️⃣ ⁣Unplug. To meditate during exercise, don’t listen to your favorite playlist, talk on the phone, read a magazine, or watch TV. Be fully present wherever you are⁣
⁣
5️⃣ Listen to your body - never force yourself to do something you don’t want to do. Take rest days when you need them. Resting is not the same thing as bing lazy! ⁣
⁣⁣
If you’re looking to create your own mindful movement practice, I will be teaching weekly yoga, meditation and/or breathwork classes as part of The Everyday Mindfulness Program! ⁣

What are your self-care non-negotiables? #Fabletic What are your self-care non-negotiables? #FableticsPartner ⁣
⁣
These are the self-care priorities that I include in my routine every single day:⁣
⁣
✨ Getting a minimum of 8 hours of sleep each night⁣
⁣
✨ Daily gratitude practice ⁣
⁣
✨ Meditate & Affirmations ⁣
⁣
✨ Journaling ⁣
⁣
✨ Spending time in nature ⁣
⁣
✨ Mindful movement ⁣
⁣
I recommend doing an assessment of your current daily routine and write down everything that you do. Ask yourself, "what things are not serving me that I can get rid of" and "what would I like to add in"?⁣
⁣
Can you get rid of mindless scrolling on social media until the wee hours of the morning and opt for an earlier bedtime? Or maybe you want to stop watching the news first thing in the am? What can you add to your routine that will have the biggest positive impact on your day?⁣
⁣
Start to schedule these things into your calendar or write them down on a sticky note so that you remember (I have mine on my desktop screensaver!)⁣
⁣
The more you practice, the more these will start to become automatic and then just become a normal part of your routine!⁣

⁣
There is so much more to life than working 40+ hours a week at a job you HATE, just to pay your bills, maybe take two weeks of vacation a year, and then *hopefully* do what you want when you retire ⁣
⁣
The fact that you’re even alive right now is nothing short of a miracle. There is a 1 in 400 trillion chance that you would even be alive on this earth right now. You were put here for a reason. ⁣
⁣
Don’t waste your life doing something that makes you unhappy just because your family or society told you that you “should”. ⁣
⁣
We as humans are very good at planning - we plan for college, save for retirement, etc. But the truth is we aren’t always good at LIVING. ⁣
⁣
Part of being mindful is the realization that life is happening now. Not on the weekends, not when you retire, not when you lose the weight, make X amount of dollars, or when you finally achieve your goals.⁣
⁣
We always want to reach a destination, but maybe the journey is the destination? Mindfulness teaches us to enjoy where we are in the present while also working towards what we want. ⁣
⁣
If you are ready to stop hiding your magic, to stop coasting through your days on autopilot and to finally start enjoying being present moment , then sign up for the Everyday Mindfulness Program waitlist. ⁣

There are some new faces around here, so I thought There are some new faces around here, so I thought I would reintroduce myself! 🙋🏼‍♀️✨⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Hi, I’m Stephanie - I’m a certified holistic health & mindfulness coach, wellness blogger, RYT 200-hour yoga instructor, meditation facilitator, writer, speaker and entrepreneur from Chicago! ⁣
⁣
My life definitely hasn’t always looked like this though. In fact, it was quite the opposite. ⁣
⁣
I was severely bullied all throughout my childhood & even through high school. From a very young age, I started looking for outside approval from others to prove I was enough. I would bend over backward & shape shift into what I thought people wanted me to be because I wanted so badly to be liked and accepted. ⁣
⁣
This led me down a steep spiral of self loathing to the point where I barely recognized myself anymore. I was partying every weekend to numb the pain and stress eating garbage food to comfort myself.⁣
⁣
I remember feeling so lost - I worked several corporate jobs I hated (I got fired from 2 of them), I was stressed to the max, my hair fell out by the handfuls & I was constantly getting sick. ⁣
⁣
I had an awakening when I discovered my yoga and mindfulness practice about 5 years ago, and it started me on my journey to find a deeper meaning and connection to life. ⁣
⁣
I have spent the past several years investing in myself, continuing my education and most importantly, learning from my experiences to heal both physically and mentally. I eventually left my soul-sucking corporate 9-5 marketing agency job & went back to school to pursue my dream career path in holistic wellness and nutrition. Since then, I have received 3 separate yoga teacher training certifications and I have started a new business as a mindfulness coach!⁣
⁣
I’ve come to realize that no amount of outside approval will ever be enough unless you truly love yourself. I have dedicated my life to helping other women find their path, find their purpose and create a fulfilling life they LOVE! My vision for myself is to be the person I needed most when I was in a dark place, and inspire as many as I can to find their inner light & illuminate their OWN personal path to happiness!
New on the blog! I’m sharing 20 simple and effec New on the blog! I’m sharing 20 simple and effective ways to create a daily mindfulness practice ✨⁣
⁣
Being mindful is the practice of being deliberately and actively in the present moment without judgment. It’s a way to be fully aware of our everyday decisions and choosing to live out of intention rather than habit.⁣
⁣
So many of us go through our days on autopilot – just going through the motions to get by. Mindfulness brings us back into the present moment and helps us focus on the task at hand, rather than having our minds wanted in a million other directions. Stress is usually a byproduct of thinking about the past or worrying about the future. When we focus on the now, it helps us reduce stress, be more productive and genuinely live happier lives!⁣
⁣
Practicing mindfulness can be a relatively simple task, but it’s not always easy. It’s like a muscle – the more you practice and work on it, the stronger it will become. Being mindful takes work, and the more you practice, the better you will get and the more you will start to see it manifest in other parts of your life!⁣
⁣
One of the best things about being mindful is that it’s completely free to practice, and it can be done almost anywhere at any time! Most of these exercises can also be done in 5 minutes or less, so they won’t take much time out of your busy day! ⁣
⁣
Click the link in my bio for 20 simple exercises you can use to incorporate mindfulness into your daily life! ⁣💕
